FAISALABAD – Two leading comedians, Naseem Vicky and Agha Majid, narrowly escaped a gun attack in Punjab’s city of Faisalabad, it emerged on Saturday.
Police said that the two stage actors, who also perform in multiple comedy shows on local TV channels, came under attack near Rajbah Road when they were returning from a theater.
Both comedians in their statement said that pillion-riding attackers targeted their vehicle, adding that bullets hit the vehicle’s tyre.
The police said that the attackers fled from the scene after the incident, adding that evidence have been collected from the crime scene.
They said that process is also underway to trace the suspects with the help of the CCTV footage, adding that a case has been registered against unknown assailants.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar took notice of the attack and sought a report from RPO Faisalabad regarding the incident. “The incident of firing on stage actors is unfortunate and those behind it should be arrested soon,” he said.
