Covid-19 positivity rate further dropped in Islamabad on Saturday i.e. from 2.2 per cent to 1.80 per cent which is the lowest positivity rate since outbreak of Coronavirus last year in March.
According to Dr Zaeem Zia, District Health Officer (DHO) of Islamabad, a total of 4,225 tests for Covid-19 were conducted during the last twenty-four hours and after the tests, 88 persons were found to be infected with the virus.
The positivity rate thus has further dropped from Friday’s 2.2 per cent, he said, adding it was made possible because of the untiring efforts of the health and district administration teams.
Above all, the general public’s cooperation has been exemplary during the lockdown period as people kept themselves indoors mostly during the Eid holidays, he said.
Meanwhile, according to the National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC) decision, Covid-19 vaccinations have been made mandatory for educational staff in order to ensure the safe continuation of the education sector.
In light of the decision taken by the NCOC, teachers in all schools, model and FDE both, have been directed to get themselves vaccinated before June 5 and receive their certificate of vaccination of both doses from National Database Registration Authority (NADRA).
Like rest of the country, schools in Islamabad are also opening from June 7 and necessary preparations are made in this regard to ensure smooth working of schools.
They have been asked to get vaccinated from any of the 18 vaccination centres in Islamabad and receive their vaccination cards accordingly by submitting Rs100 fee with the NADRA, confirmed an official of the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) adding it has been decided that maximum efforts would be made to keep the schools working according to the schedule and there should be no off-day due to Covid-19 wave.
Not only teachers have been directed to get their vaccination completed and submit before the reopening of schools, all education staff are required to do the same, said the FDE official.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat, more than 20 per cent of Islamabad ‘s population has been vaccinated and we have targeted to vaccinate 50 per cent of the federal capital’s population in next two months, he further said.
Meanwhile, after a day break of Friday (weekly off) all the vaccination centres in Islamabad resumed vaccination of the citizens and in the last 24 hours according to a rough estimate, around 30,000 persons were administered jabs, both first and the second dose.
