Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman while expressing deep concern over the rising street crimes in Karachi said that Sindh government and police have failed miserably in curbing street crimes.
He said that the incidents of burglary and street crimes in Karachi have increased to an alarming extent due to which there is severe unrest and concern among the citizens while the administration has remained a silent spectator.
Due to which the citizens are facing severe financial and mental anguish, incidents of snatching women’s purses and jewelery and mobile phones from the citizens are happening daily and the police and administration are completely indifferent to the situation.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that according to newspaper reports, in February alone, 28 people were killed in robbery resistance and other incidents in Karachi, citizens were deprived of more than 3,369 motorcycles, more than 135 vehicles, 1795 mobile phones while extortion incidents.
In addition, Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman said that the worst law and order situation in the city is a question mark over the performance of law enforcement agencies, criminal elements and gangs on a large scale due to the inattention of the police.
Dangerous snatching and looting are taking place, as a result of which ordinary citizens are constantly feeling insecure and helpless.
Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman further said that it is the responsibility of the government and law enforcement agencies to provide all kinds of protection to the citizens of Karachi and take immediate practical steps against the elements involved in street crimes.
