Pakistan on Sunday reported 80 deaths in the last 24 hours by the novel Coronavirus as the number of positive cases surged to 457,288. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 9,330.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center, 2,615 persons tested positive for Covid-19. Till now 204,103 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 131,428 in Punjab, 54,948 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 36,117 in Islamabad, 17,909 in Balochistan, 7,961 in Azad Kashmir and 4,822 in Gilgit-Baltistan. According to the government’s coronavirus statistics website, a total of 37,206 Covid-19 tests were conducted across the country over the last 24 hours, revealing a positivity ratio of 7%.
The National Command and Operation Centre said that out of the 80 people who succumbed to the disease within a day, 44 were put on a ventilator.
Official figures further showed that 2,615 more people across the country tested positive for the potentially deadly virus within a day, bringing the total number of patients infected with the virus to 454,673.
Punjab’s coronavirus tally has risen to 131,428 with 722 new infections in the last 24 hours, up from 584 a day earlier but lower than the high of 831 reported on Friday. The province also saw an increase in the number of fatalities with 46 more deaths reported, up from 36 a day earlier.
Sindh has reported 737 coronavirus cases and 14 deaths during the last 24 hours, according to Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 500 Covid-19 cases and 15 more fatalities, according to the government’s coronavirus portal. KP’s tally of infections has reached 54,948 while the total number of deaths has risen to 1,536. On the other hand, Balochistan has recorded 29 new infections, taking the province’s caseload to 17,909.
