As the security forces intensified their operations against the outlaws in the backdrop of Muharram, a bloody encounter between the Pakistan Army led security forces in the outskirts of provincial metropolis left two soldiers of the Pakistan Army and equal number of Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) men martyred, Wednesday afternoon.
At least three terrorists including a high profile militant commander was also mowed down during the Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) that was conducted in the Hassan Khel area, believed to be a terrorist’s hot bed in the outskirts of Peshawar. The Military Media wing as well as the CTD authorities confirmed. The security forces and the CTD department, it may be recalled, have conducted several IBOs in Hassan Khel area in the year 2024 and mowed down a number of terrorists.
“On 10 July 2024, a joint intelligence based operation was conducted by Security Forces and Police in general area Hassan Khel, Peshawar District on reported presence of a high profile terrorist. During the operation, after intense exchange of fire, three terrorists including High Value Target (HVT), Terrorist Commander Abdul Raheem were sent to hell. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from killed terrorists” says an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) communiqué issued Wednesday evening.
Terrorist Commander Abdul Raheem was highly wanted by the Law Enforcement Agencies and Government had fixed Head money of PKR 6 million on him, as he remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities, and was also responsible for Shahadat of Captain HussainJehangirShaheed and HavaldarShafiqUllahShaheed on 26 May 2024.
Wednesday’s operation, the ISPR said, has avenged the heinous act and has brought the main perpetrator to justice. However, during intense exchange of fire, four brave sons of soil; Sepoy Muhammad Idrees (age: 34 years, resident of Swabi District), SepoyBadamGul (age: 34 years, resident of Kohat District) of Pakistan Army and Sub Inspector Tajmir Shah, (age: 38 years, resident of: Peshawar District) & Assistant Sub Inspector Muhammad Akram (age: 34 years, resident of Mansehra District) of CTD KPK, having fought gallantly, embraced Shahadat.
Pakistan’s security forces stand shoulder to shoulder with other law enforcement agencies to ensure peace and stability across Pakistan and such sacrifices of our brave men further strengthen our resolve, the ISPR concluded.
On Tuesday too an intense gun battle between the militants and Security forces in the restive North Waziristan tribal district had led to the martyrdom of a serving captain of the Pakistan army along with soldiers while at least two terrorists were also gunned down during the shootout. Captain Muhammad Osama bin Arshad, aged 24, resident of Rawalpindi district was leading his troops from the front and fought gallantly before he embraced Shahadat in the line of duty.
