2 imported coronavirus cases from Pakistan confirmed in China

BEIJING China reported two newly confirmed cases of novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) from Pakistan, reports China Economic Net on Tuesday quoting official data. One confirmed case was reported in Beijing. The patient is a 27-year-old translator who has been living in Pakistan. According to the municipal health commission, he took off from Islamabad International Airport in Pakistan on March 20, transferred to flight CA946 at Karachi airport, and arrived in Beijing on March 21. After undergoing nucleic acid testing (NAT), temperature check, and epidemiological investigation, he was sent to Ditan Hospital for treatment and has been confirmed positive on March 23. It is also the first imported case from Pakistan confirmed in Beijing. On Monday, Linyi city of Shandong province also reported one imported case from Pakistan. The 62-yearold male patient took flight TG346 from Pakistan to Bangkok, Thailand at 23:05 on March 19 (local time), and took flight TG614 from Bangkok to Beijing at 15:20 on March 20. With his temperature tested normal upon arrival, he was sent back to Linyi city in a bus. Local health authorities said the 14 people who had close contact with the patient in the bus were quarantined for observation and tested negative for the virus. The Chinese mainland reported 39 newly imported cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) Sunday, bringing the total number of imported cases to 353, according to the National Health Commission Monday.–INP
