17 die of Coronavirus, 977 new cases reported

Pakistan has recorded 17 more deaths during the last 24 hours due to the Coronavirus. The number of infections has now surged to 333,970 with the addition of nearly 1,000 fresh cases.
The national death toll from the Covid-19 after the fresh 17 fatalities now climbed up to 6,823.
According to the latest figures released by the National Command and Operation Centre on Sunday morning, 977 persons have been tested positive for coronavirus during the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas said on Sunday there is no plan to close schools for now despite increase in coronavirus cases.
Raas said that the Punjab government was keeping a close eye on coronavirus cases in schools. He said that random testing was being conducted and a slight increase in number has been observed.
“Situation is being analysed on daily basis. There is no plan to close schools as of right now. Please follow SOPs,” he tweeted.
Till now 145,851 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 104,271 in Punjab, 39,564 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 19,970 in Islamabad, 15,920 in Balochistan, 4,133 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 4,261 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
As many as 2,627 individuals have lost their lives to the pandemic in Sindh, 2,362 in Punjab, 1,277 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 151 in Balochistan, 222 in Islamabad, 92 in Gilgit Baltistan and 92 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
