In a somber turn of events, the coastal community of Khuda Bux Brohi in Thatta grapples with grief as authorities and divers from various social welfare organizations recover the decomposed remains of 10 fishermen. The heart-wrenching incident unfolded when the al Asad fishing boat capsized in the Hajamro creek area of the Arabian Sea, approximately 100 nautical kilometers from Thatta’s coastal city, Ketibander. This unfortunate event has left 14 fishermen still missing, their fate unknown.
Local fisherman representatives delivered the poignant revelation on Monday, shedding light on the devastating consequences of the maritime disaster. Amidst the chaos, 31 individuals were fortunately rescued by fellow boatmen operating nearby, offering a glimmer of hope amid the tragedy.
The deceased have been identified as Hussain Booriyo, Shakeel Bangali, Hashim Mallah, Aalam Bangali, and six others whose identities remain unconfirmed at this time. Hailing predominantly from Ibrahim Hydri, a coastal village in Karachi South, the bodies were swiftly transported to the rural health center in Ketibander. From there, they were sent to Ibrahim Hyderi for formal identification, according to FFP spokesman Gulab Shah.
