Zeeshan Khanzada of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) was Tuesday elected to the upper house from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to unofficial results he bagged 104 votes against his contender Farzand Ali Khan Wazir a candidate of the united opposition who managed to secure only 31 votes.
The Senate seat, it may be recalled, had fallen vacant after the resignation of Senator Khanzada Khan from Mardan who had tendered his resignation following his parting ways with the Pakistan Peoples party and joining the PTI.
Zeeshan Khanzada is the son of Khanzada Khan.
Polling for by-election on a vacant seat of the Senate from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was held at Provincial Assembly in Peshawar.
In total 139 members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly took part in the election while four votes were rejected in the polls.
