In occupied Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyat Conference leaders have paid rich tributes to the victims of Zakura and Tengpora massacres on their 32nd anniversary, today.
The APHC leaders in their statements issued in Srinagar, today, while paying tributes to dozens of Zakura and Tengpora martyrs with moist eyes said such massacres are part of the ongoing genocidal drive in the occupied territory. They however maintained that the mission of martyrs would be taken to its logical conclusion, against all odds.
The Hurriyat leaders said IIOJK has become the most militarized zone in the world where Indian troops are involved in the killing for over 7 decades. India army has committed scores of massacres since 1989 in the occupied territory, they said and vowed that no power on earth could suppress the ongoing freedom movement in Jammu and Kashmir.
They demanded initiation of impartial proceedings under the UN War Crimes Tribunal against the troops involved in the deadly massacres including Zakura and Tengpora tragedies.
The leaders expressed the hope that Kashmiri martyrs’ blood would not go waste and the Indian defeat is writing on the wall.
It is to mention here that more than 50 people were killed and dozens others were injured when Indian troops had opened fire on peaceful protesters in Zukoora and Tengpora areas of Srinagar on March 1, 1990.
Meanwhile, APHC leaders Jehangir Ghani Butt, Zamrooda Habib and Chaudhry Shaheen Iqbal in their statements in Srinagar said Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute, which is a threat to the world peace.
They stressed the need for urgent talks between Pakistan and India to resolve the issue to avert any catastrophe in the region. APHC-AJK leader Uzair Ahmad Ghazali in a statement in Muzaffarabad deplored that India was killing innocent Kashmiri youth in fake encounters.—KMS
