Yemen, Pakistan enjoy excellent brotherly relations: Ambassador Motahar

Pakistan and Yemen enjoy excellent brotherly relations and share a common bond of religion, culture and historic values.

This was stated by Ambassador of Yemen Mohammed Motahar Alashabi during a meeting with Chairman and CEO of Pakistan Observer, Mr Faisal Zahid Malik at the Yemen embassy.

The Yemen ambassador said Yemen and Pakistan established diplomatic relations in 1981 by establishing their respective embassies in Islamabad and Sana’a.

About the current situation in the Middle Ease and the Israel-Hamas conflict, he condemned the recent wave of atrocities by the Israeli forces in the occupied territories of Palestine and called upon the world powers, the UN the US and the European Union to take notice of the brutalities and use their influence to halt the naked aggression by Israel.

A large number of children, women and elderly people have already fallen victim to the Israeli attacks and the scale of tragedy is so big that words cannot simply describe them.

He lauded the role of Pakistan Observer for championing the cause of Palestine at all national and international forums.

Pakistan Observer is carrying forward the golden legacy of its Founder Editor-in-Chief late Zahid Malik, he said while paying rich tributes to the founder of Pakistan Observer.

Referring to the trade potential between the two countries, Motahar Alashabi said the volume of trade between Yemen and Pakistan needs to be enhanced.

Pakistan exports food items like wheat, rice, cereals as well as leather and medical goods to Yemen.

He said Pakistan is a peace loving country and is progressing at a good pace. He appreciated the role of Pakistan in peace building efforts in Yemen. The ambassador said Pakistan is blessed with scenic and historic places with a lot of potential in tourism.

About the conflict raging in Yemen for the last seven years, the ambassador said the ordinary people were paying the price of power struggle between warring groups.

While thanking the ambassador, Mr Faisal Zahid Malik said both Yemen and Pakistan shared similar views on important regional and international issues of concern and reciprocate each other at various world forums. He prayed for a peaceful resolution of conflict between the warring groups.
