The Social Welfare Society of Peshawar Medical College (PMC) And Peshawar Dental College (PDC) organized a special ceremony at the PMC to observer World Blood Donor Day. The event served as an opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and to acknowledge and celebrate the efforts of those who have selflessly donated blood to save lives.
This annual occasion is observed worldwide to shed light on the importance of safe blood and blood products, while expressing gratitude towards voluntary and unpaid blood donors for their invaluable contributions.
The slogan for 2023 World Blood Donor Day campaign is “Give blood, give plasma, share life, share often.” It focuses on patients requiring life-long transfusion support and underlines the role every single person can play, by giving the valuable gift of blood or plasma.
It also highlights the importance of giving blood or plasma regularly to create a safe and sustainable supply of blood and blood products that can be always available, all over the world, so that all patients in need can receive timely treatment. The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Aman Khan, Principal of PMC, Prof. Shamim Akhtar, Principal of PDC, Dr. Mohsina Haq, Chairperson of SWS, faculty members and volunteers of the society.
Prof. Dr. Motahir Ali Shah,Hamza Khan and Rimsha Khan highlighted numerous benefits of blood donation. Blood donors associated with SWS were honored with certificates as a token of appreciation for their contributions towards helping the ailing humanity through blood donation.
