Search for a new Information Secretary is underway and a final decision is expected in coming days as incumbent Information Secretary Shahera Shahid is retiring soon.
Sources within the ministry told Pakistan Observer that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had interviews for four successors and candidates under consideration are Sayyed Mubashar Tauqir Shah, Ambreen Jan, Arshad Munir, and Shamoon Hashmi.
The final decision on the new Information Secretary is expected to be made in the coming days, marking the end of Shahera Shahid’s tenure and the beginning of a new chapter for the Information Group.
Mubashar Tauqir Shah
Mubashir Tauqeer is among four front runners, a grade-21 officer of Information Group who served in many coveted roles including Managing Director of Pakistan Television Corporation. He also served as an additional secretary in the Information Ministry.
Ambreen Jan
Ambreen Jan, who also remained as managing director of Pakistan Television (PTV) is running for the position. In her glittering career, Ambreen served as DG External Publicity in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MOIB).
Ambreen is a grade-21 officer in the information and broadcasting ministry.
Arshad Munir
Third on the list is Muhammad Arshad Munir, a BS 21 officer of Information Group who was earlier posted as Joint Secretary, Information and Broadcasting Division. Mr Munir, with experience, served in various positions in ministry.
