Agro and Food Division, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan organized a webinar on how to increase meat exports to Saudi Arabia in compliance with the new requirement of Halal certification with Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) The webinar was attended by Pakistan National Accreditation Council, Animal Quarantine Department, Ministry of National Food Security and Research and Embassy in Saudi Arabia and was also attended all stakeholders and meat exporters.
The main objective of the webinar was to aware our exporters on the significance of Halal certification and resolve all the anomalies being faced by exporters or Halal certifying bodies regarding the registration with the SFDA.
After all the discussions in the webinar, it was decided that all certifying bodies will register with Saudi Food and Drug Authority as Pakistan will not be able to export meat without it. However, on the demand of certifying bodies and Pakistan National Accreditation Council, it was also decided that efforts will also be made for Mutual Recognition Agreement. Pakistan National Accreditation Council and Mufti Zeeshan Abdul Aziz, M/s. Int’l Halal Certification Pvt. Ltd and Mufti Yousuf A.R. Khan M/s. SANHA Halal Associate Pakistan will meet and guide TDAP.. Webinar concluded with the remarks that Pakistani companies will realize the importance of US$1.9 billion meat market of KSA and shall prepare them for it.
