Karachi Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab said on Saturday that the ruling party, which won 17 seats from Karachi, should play its role in the development of the metropolis. “A grand rally will be held led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Islamabad to remove the incompetent government.
People from different cities across the country will participate in the march, the administrator said. He issued the statement while talking to the media at the inauguration of Bagh-e-Mustafa in the Federal B Area. Also present on the occasion were Deputy Commissioner Central Taha Saleem, Director General Parks Junaidullah
Khan, PPP Central District President Masroor Ahsan and other leaders and officials. Wahab said that the Sindh government was playing its role in the construction and development of Karachi.
“In connection with the rehabilitation of 100 parks in Central District, 19 parks have been renovated and opened for citizens,” he added. He stated KMC has restored and rebuilt a 2.5 acre park which had been turned into a garbage dump.
“We are developing parks and handing it over to the Baghban committees of areas so that they can take care of them,” he said. The administrator continued that 28 Baghban committees have been formed in the city, comprising people from every school of thought in the area. “Our aim is to create a sense of ownership among the citizens,” he said. The administrator also inaugurated a park in North Karachi.
On the occasion, he said that it is not a matter of funds and powers, but of intention. “If the intention is clear, then the destination is easy.” “Today development work is going on in Central District and the deputy commissioner is carrying out this work with limited funds,” he added.
The administrator said people are happy with the renovation and rehabilitation of parks and the concept of ownership is emerging among citizens. In response to a question, Wahab said that progress has been made in arresting the killers of senior journalist Athar Matin and one suspect was nabbed in the morning.
He said that the Sindh government will soon arrest the others involved. The administrator continued that the killing of Athar Mateen was unfortunate and the government.
