The silent killer
Smoking is one of the leading causes of preventable death. According to WHO, the use of tobacco is currently responsible for the death of one in ten adults worldwide (about 5 million deaths each year).
Cigarette smoking is frequently influencing our youths nowadays. Individuals smoke either as a habit or to get temporary relief from daily life issues.
Moreover, our adolescents think that smoking would make them look cool despite knowing that it is severely injurious to health. It causes severe breathing issues and if used continually, smoke can cause complete dysfunction of the lungs. Cigarette smoking may also lead to numerous other drug addictions such as Shisha, Heroin, Chers, Opium, etc.
Smokers who cannot afford to buy cigarettes often get involved in certain crimes such as purse and mobile snatching. Furthermore, smokers risk not only their own lives but of all those who come within the range of their smoke. Second-hand smokers are at a high risk of asthma and lungs infection.
To avert people, especially the youth from getting involved in this evil, here are some measures. Firstly, parents should keep a vigilant eye on their children in order to prevent them from smoking.
Secondly, the government should ban tobacco promotion and hold countrywide campaigns to create awareness among people. Tough legislation on this issue is strongly recommended and a pragmatic approach should be promoted in this connection.

Grace
of Hijab
Hijab is itself a sign of beauty covering one’s self with a piece of cloth or scarf. It is a charm of a Muslim lady that is given to her by Islam. In Islam, it is mandatory to cover yourself (women) with hijab. So, no one can stop a Muslim or even a non-Muslim lady to cover herself with hijab on her head. Now, not only a Muslim but also a non-Muslim lady wants the freedom to do hijab without any restriction of her religious belief.
In India, Muslim girls are trying to gain the right of freedom of hijab and to make themselves protected by not revealing themselves to unrelated men because Islam has given them the right of being covered. We have seen in foreign countries that women there also want to do hijab without bullying them and not being violated.
Here the question arises that how hijab gives women grace?? The simple explanation for this statement is that women’s beauty does not increase by revealing their body parts to others. Their charm of being women depresses them from revealing certain parts of their bodies. Hijab purifies and enhances their beauty by covering them.

World
Radio Day
World Radio is celebrated on 13 February each year by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation ( UNESCO). The day was first marked to appreciate the role of radio as one of the only source of communication for the world. It has been playing a vital role in spreading information, educating and enlightening people. Similarly, in the initial days of Pakistan, Radio Pakistan played a crucial role as it was the only available source of communication and information.
Radio Pakistan was the main radio service. Despite advancement in media and technology, Radio Pakistan has been playing its historical role in spreading information and promoting culture. Radio Pakistan is still widely listened in rural areas where people do not have access to other sources of information. On International Radio Day, we should remember and celebrate the role of Radio Pakistan.
