PTI
stirring hornets’ nest

There is a saying in Greek Mythology that “When the gods get angry, they make you go mad”.

Why is the federal government stirring up the proverbial Hornet’s Nest, in which it alone is likely to be the major casualty.

PTI got elected precisely because the PML-N had failed to deliver to the masses, just like Zardari and Musharraf had failed.

Those who voted for PTI expected things to improve, not to go from bad to worse. Criticism by the media reflects unrest in the country and should never be dismissed as fake news. This Trump-like phobia of terming criticism as fake news will not serve the government.

At the end of the day, PM Imran Khan alone will have to bear the burden of rejection. His team dominated by mediocrity, lacking basic skills of governance, will vanish into the wilderness and re-emerge serving another master, while the political engineers will back another horse.

The PTI government’s needless and unwarranted decision to confront journalists, Election Commission and simultaneously allow a campaign to be launched against few judges of the superior judiciary etc is a recipe for self-destruction.

Instead, the government should focus on governance, rising inflation, economy, deteriorating law and order situation and a host of other problems.

A government elected on popular vote was expected to consolidate its vote bank by delivering to the people.

Such popularly elected governments, once in power, can only retain their popularity through performance and catering to welfare of the most deprived sections of the country and the middle class that exercises their right to vote.

Unfortunately, PTI like many of its predecessors, is surrounded by too many sycophants, who make their leadership live in an Alice in Wonderland Syndrome, instead of having their finger on the pulse of the people.

Illegal societies

Pakistan in general and the twin cities in particular have witnessed mushroom growth in real estate and housing societies during recent years.

As real estate offers one of the highest investment returns among all sectors, people find it an easy income source. However, there is general lack of framework regarding certain housing societies and their regulations.

On top of that, most of them aren’t registered with CDA, bringing their legitimacy into question whereas private housing societies and their legality is an issue for almost all the investors.

Many illegitimate housing societies offer highly lucrative deals and the gullible population gets trapped and lose all their money.

As a concerned citizen, I’d like to bring the unlawful construction being done by illegal societies without proper NOCs into your consideration. Out of the 204 housing societies in the twin cities, only 22 have been granted NOCs by CDA.

Advertisements of these societies should be completely banned unless they get a proper NOC from CDA. It is the civic duty of all concerned authorities to inform citizens about public land and their legality and prevent them from investing in illicit societies as it is the citizens who have to bear the brunt of such investments.

CDA should ensure these societies follow the issued parameters and constantly update their profile in order to keep investors aware of con practices as it is their obligation.
They must also ensure no illegal construction takes place.

It is requested to the higher authorities to look into this matter and take swift and strict legal measures.

Media authority law

Journalism plays a vital role in a society. Media is considered the fourth pillar of democracy as it acts as a bridge between state and nation.

However, media nowadays is facing problems by the ruling government, even though it was the media that showcased PTI protests and other activities to the nation. Yet it now wants to authorise the media and control the news and content.

On the other hand, journalists around the country are protesting against this law in Islamabad and people of different professions are supporting them.

Since PTI didn’t fulfil its promises to the nation, they now want to control the media to avoid the public’s criticism. If the government succeeds in seizing control over media, it’d be a murder of democracy.

Promoting sports in Turbat

Sports are the best kind of exercise that entertain individuals keeping them fit. They also keep individuals, especially youngsters, away from social evils.

However, despite having a handful of talented sportsmen, there aren’t any worthwhile sports facilities such as sports grounds, academies, etc in Turbat.

One has to purchase each and every single sports equipment on their own. Therefore, I request the concerned authorities to provide the people of Turbat with sports facilities.
