Pak dramas

In the current age, Pakistani dramas play an important role in our life. People’s way of thinking and their manners of dealing are largely impacted by the content aired on television. Nowadays, Pakistani drama shows the opposite role of life patterns. The theme and content of Pakistani dramas nowadays have done more harm than good to over entrenched patriarchal societal patterns. In almost all of our dramas female characters are printed as bad wife, sister, mother-in-law and daughter.
Contrary to that males are portrayed as spoiled, rich boys having illicit relationships but finally ending up getting married to a pious lady. It endorses and provides an absurd idea in society. Taking inspiration from such characters, boys take pride in hanging out with girls, going to clubs, partying and finally getting married to a pious woman. Keeping in view these consequences, it is imperative for script writers and produces to acknowledge these points before writing a drama to be aired on television one way or the other, they are feeding the younger generation with new ideas and values that will eventually take a practical shape in their life. Presentation of ordinary characters in dramas and lessons of patience and tolerance for both male and female are all indispensable to change the false perception of youth of our society.

Is being woman a crime?

Women being most sensitive and important part of our society are the strongest creatures alive facing many vicious and frightening difficulties such as rape, abuse and harassment. No one can ever feel the pain of women. What is left behind to see? Mother is being raped in front of her children, heavenly innocent children are being raped and murdered in Pakistan. Recently, a mother along with her four years old child get gang raped in Kashmore. We are living among the monsters.
Animals are far better than us. It is sad but true we have failed in protecting our women. Similarly, when a lady was gang raped on Motorway, the CCPO-Lahore blamed rape victim lady for everything that why she were travelling late/alone? She had chosen Motorway why not GT Road? These types of mindset peoples are posted on higher positions. Pakistan came into being under the name of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. And in Islamic states there prevail very hard punishments and treatments for the rapists and murderers but in Pakistan there is nothing like this. The cases remain pending in courts for years and later on fade away from the focus. There are ample laws in the country but it is a pity that none is implemented.
Pakistan is the 6th vulnerable country for women and time is not far off when it would become first as the rape cases are increasing with the passage of time.

Justice for Alisha

I woke up to news of a minor girl and her mother being gang-raped. What shocked me was the fact that the body of the minor wore the marks of brutality. It breaks my heart to accept that we have failed to provide safe environment to our children to live in. Alisha, the girl who became victim of lust, would not have thought for a single moment that she would be treated like this. It is good to note that this incident has invited the much-needed attention of the authorities which in the past have not done much to tackle child abuse cases. What happened to Alisha is unfortunately a daily occurrence. Not a single week passes when we do not read news about child abuse cases, missing children and so on and so forth. The reaction and outrage that followed the accident is exactly what we needed to urge the authorities to take remedial measures to deal with such crimes. It now rests with the government how it will take strict action against gang-rappers.

Climate change

For the past several years, it has been observed that mostly laypersons are writing on climate change posing themselves as experts in the issue. A few years ago, a person wrote an article in an English newspaper on climate change in which what he had to say was only that in the summer season people should eat raw onion to guard against heat.
If this is the kind of people who are highlighting such a serious issue of climate change, the effects of such efforts should be anybody’s guess. Such tactics are aimed at gaining cheap popularity and wangle invitations to interactional conferences, opportunities for touring countries of the West at the expense of others.

Mismanagement in healthcare system

It’s distasteful that Zimbabweans cannot celebrate and testify the progress made by the government to reduce diabetes and its impact in the country because of the healthcare system which is in a shambles. Diabetes which is a disease that is caused by high sugar levels and the insulin in the liver which fails to regulate enough sugar that is required in our body systems. It is also caused by eating too much sugary foods and high levels of starch.
About 1.44 million people are diabetic in a country (Zimbabwe) with a population of estimated 14 million. It can be controlled by regular exercise, diabetic injections, eating a healthy diet like whole grain bread, fish, vegetables and less starch. People with diabetes have many challenges. The Zimbabwean government has failed to promote lifestyles that can reduce the impact of this ailment. Diabetic people need a special diet of food and it is horrific that diabetic victims cannot afford a special diet in a country marked by high unemployment, high inflation and lack of disposable income cancer. Many people in Zimbabwe are needlessly succumbing to diabetes which could be easily monitored, managed and controlled.
Corrupt ZANU PF government has wrecked the country’s healthcare systems and exposed many Zimbabweans to risks of death by diabetes. President Emerson Mnangagwa needs to resuscitate the healthcare system of Zimbabwe.South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, UK, Canada, New Zealand and Australia cannot be the clinics and hospitals of Zimbabwe where citizens can travel to get treatment for diabetes and other manageable and treatable illnesses.
