Uniform curriculum

Curriculum plays a vital role in personality building of students and it has major effects on their professional life. Students having weak curriculum background cannot work efficiently. Similarly there is a differentiation of Urdu medium and English medium in our educational system especially regarding Madaris. Students after graduating from Madaris have no opportunity to go for CSS, commission in Army or Judiciary.
Although this government is taking steps to make a uniform national curriculum for all educational institutions in our country, yet it’s a very important issue and it needs much attention because it plays a pivotal role in building our nation. If this problem remains unsolved our next generation will face bad consequences and we will be unable to do anything at that time.
So it’s time to take it seriously and make a uniform curriculum for all educational institutions. This curriculum should remain the same for certain level of education like grade 10th. After that students have a choice to go for any field and do specialization. There should be extra Islamic courses for university students to have some basic and important knowledge of Islam, on the other hand some basic English linguistic courses and necessary science courses should be introduced for Madrasa graduates. Only through this way we can produce intelligent and useful people so that they can excel in every field of life from our educational system.

India wants another surprise

Pakistan Air Force’s response to India’s attempt at aggression near Karachi has once again won the hearts of the Pakistanis. India’s warmongering is yet to come to a halt as reports suggest that a number of Indian fighter jets were headed towards Karachi the other day only to be sent back by PAF without coming near the border.
Indian’s attempted aggression has prompted the Pakistanis to trend #IndiaWantsSurpriseAgain and #PakistanAirForce, reminding them of Abhinandan’s fate when he tried to cross the line. Following the famous faceoff that saw PAF down two Indian fighter jets, 27th February has been observed as the Surprise Day. China has captured 60 sq km of Indian land but Modi ordered air, surgical strikes inside Pakistan.
Modi and Amit Shah both are continuously forcing their mediocrity to initiate a war with Pakistan. The only purpose of this wicked intention is to overshadow the dying Indian economy and fool Hindutva gangs.

Online education

Those who make education policy in cold rooms may not know that it is not only the youth belonging to Bahria Town or DHA who study in universities. Even young people from the valleys of (former) FATA and Kashmir, the deserts of southern Punjab and the rocky mountains of Balochistan and Gilgit pay university fee in millions. When the government was ending the lockdown, it said that we do not have a strong economy like Europe so we cannot afford this lockdown. Then the government should also know that we do not have internet like Europe which can make online education successful for all students from Gwadar to Gilgit.
The government and HEC are providing opportunities to rich students in the name of online education, but 80% of poor students, some of whom do not have eve a Smartphone, some do not have a laptop and those who have these things do not get signals. The government should first provide facilities to the students, ensure the provision of the internet in the whole country, meet the needs of the poor students, and then start the process of online education.

Appreciation of frontline workers

Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic has reached our country, we have seen a sudden change in the way we now perceive frontline workers. They have turned out to become our real heroes. Police officers are still performing their duties on every crossroad and potentially busy areas, pleading to the masses to follow the SOPs of COVID-19. We have also witnessed the way our healthcare professionals are putting their life in danger but still treating patients and putting in long hours. Doctors and medical staff have even given their lives in the line of duty.
Not to forget how efficiently we have adopted to the ‘new normal’ in this pandemic due to the continuous connectivity being provided, thanks to our telecom sector. We have seen PTCL frontline workers catering to customer complaints during Covid-19 from the very start from small towns to big cities in these trying times and standing with the nation. The telco is making sure that their frontline workers remain safe and keep their customers safety in mind at all times by giving them personal protective gear.
Still, it seems we are still missing something and we must do more for our frontline workers than mere words. We must do something concrete to appreciate our frontline workers. Organizations and govts must acknowledge them through special announcement of reward or recognition.

Undue power

This letter refers to the editorial ‘Amending NAB’ (May 9, 2020), certainly a highly sensitive matter that concerns all segments of society. The argument offered by PML-Q leaders that 20 years old cases do not fall under NAB’s jurisdiction is unlikely to prevail; NAB has already opened a 34-year-old case against owner of the largest media group in Pakistan.
We have various departments with full authority to proceed against corrupt elements. Eighty percent of corruption cases can be dealt with by the FBR, and at a lower level the FIA. NAB should handle only the most high-profile cases, involving those in power. In any democratic setup, autonomous bodies cannot be allowed to assume an authoritarian role and be given a free hand to flout the laws of the land, this is tantamount to creating a state within a state and that should never be allowed. As long as the arbitrary powers of the chairperson of NAB are not curtailed and fully demarcated, any amendments shall fall on deaf ears
