Violators of official price list would face music

The Punjab Secretary Social Welfare Zahid Saleem Gondal has directed the officials of district administration to ensure implementation of Price Control Mechanisms for the month of Ramadan adding that all relevant officials especially price magistrates should hold regular visits to markets to ensure prices of daily commodities are in accordance with government rates.
He expressed these views during his visit to various bazaars of Attock on Thursday. On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Ali Annan Qammar and officials of district administration were also accompanied him. During visit to vegetable markets, he directed district administration officers to ensure the sale of daily use items and vegetables at official price list during Ramazan. He announced that the relief to citizens in Ramadan should not be limited to announcements adding that stern measures should be taken against hoarders and black marketer.
He said that the provincial government was making all out efforts to control the prices of daily use items and profiteering besides providing relief to the citizens. ‘Action would remain continue against those creating artificial price-hike and illegal profiteers and no compromise would be made in this regard’. He added. He said that the provincial government has made it obligatory for shopkeepers to display price lists for essential commodities to control the sharp rise in the prices over the last few weeks.
