US officials meet Zahir Jaffer, death row inmate who killed Noor Mukadam

ISLAMABAD – US Embassy officials on Thursday met Zahir Jafar, the American national who was sentenced to death for raping, and killing Noor Mukadam.

Jaffer, the heir of one of the richest families in the country, got death sentence for killing the daughter of former ambassador at family home in the country’s capital.

Lately, officials of US embassy in Islamabad, called on Zahir Jaffer in Adiala Jail. Michael Murphy, Naveed Ghazi and Usama Hanif were among the team members who met Jaffer.

The embassy members met with Jaffer in the deputy superintendent’s room. The exact details about the meeting remain under wraps.

Earlier, Zahir Jaffer’s counsel claimed during the trial that he suffered from chronic mental illness, and his family had also sought leniency based on his US citizenship.

This is reportedly the second meeting between US embassy officials and Zahir Jaffer. The last meeting was held in 2023.

Noor Mukadam Murder

The cold-hearted murder of Noor Mukadam sent shock waves across the nation. Zahir beheaded Noor in July 20, 2021 in F-7 area of Islamabad.

Cops later held Zahir on same day from his house where he killed her with a sharp instrument and severed her head.
