AUSTN – Pakistani-American Salman Bhojani won election for the state assembly in Texas as a candidate of Democratic candidate.
The Pakistan-born politician has elected Member of State Assembly for the second consecutive time.
On the other hand, the results projections are not encouraging for Democrats as Republican candidate and former president Donald Trump is leading the race with 230 Electoral votes while Kamala Harris trails with 187 votes.
During the election campaign, Salman Bhojani had stressed on participation of Muslims participation in the US elections saying they can raise voice for Muslims in the power corridors.
He stated, “I am proud to be the first Muslim representative from Texas State.”
He had urged the Muslim community to view the “Harris-Walls” ticket as a practical and beneficial choice. He said, “This is an option that provides us with effective representation and an opportunity to avoid an Islamophobic Trump administration.”
Bhojani added, “The Biden-Harris administration has included Muslim voices in decision-making, which is vital for the success of our representation.”
