The Pakpattan district administration on Sunday decided to cancel the annual Urs celebrations of Sufi Saint Baba Fariduddin Ganjshakar (RA) due to rising cases of Covid-19.
As the caseload of coronavirus is piling up each passing day with the speeding march of Indian variant across the country, the Pakpattan district administration has decided to cancel the 779th Urs celebrations of Sufi Saint Baba Farididdin Ganjshakar (RA).
The local authorities have directed the shrine administration to observe the Urs celebrations symbolically.
The heavenly gate (Bahishti Darwaza) would be opened for only two nights symbolically instead of the traditional five nights.
According to the administration, common devotees would not be allowed to participate in the Urs celebrations of the saint.
