Reacting to the expulsion of a female student by a private university in Lahore for proposing her class fellow for marriage and later hugging him in front of university fellows a few days ago, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said Monday that Islam guarantees every girl the right to marry of her free will.
In a tweet, he called upon the University of Lahore’s (UoL) administration to revisit its decision of expelling both the girl and her class fellow since Islam is against considering women a property.
The university had expelled the students following a video of the incident spread on social media this week.
