The All Parties Hurriyat Conference leaders have said that the criminal silence adopted by the United Nations on the Indian state terrorism in occupied Jammu and Kashmir has resulted in the continued suffering of the Kashmiris.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC leaders including Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Advocate Arshad Iqbal, Ms Hafza Bano and Maulana Musaib Nadvi in their statements issued in Srinagar pointed out that for over 7 decades now, Indian troops have been wreaking havoc with the lives of the people of occupied Kashmir. They deplored that the Indian troops enjoying unbridled powers under draconian laws are committing gross human rights violations, in fact war crimes and crimes against humanity, in the occupied territory to suppress the Kashmir freedom movement.
The APHC leaders said that by deploying over one million troops in occupied Kashmir, India has turned it into the most militarized zone in the world. They said, peace in South Asia will continue to remain a distant dream till solution of Kashmir issue as per the UN resolutions and Kashmiris’ aspirations.
“How many more decades of Indian repression of Kashmiris will it take for UN to wake up from its slumber? How many more Kashmiris will have to be killed for UN to realise that India must be held to account for its cruel policies in Kashmir?” they asked.
The APHC leaders said the settlement of the Kashmir dispute lies only in the implementation of the relevant UN resolutions. They said, it is time for the UN to stop remaining a silent spectator on what is happening in occupied Kashmir. The UN must act and save the Kashmiris from the Modi regime’s onslaught as more inaction on the part of the World Body will further embolden India to suppress the Kashmiris, they added.
Meanwhile, APHC-AJK leaders including Mushtaq Ahmed Butt in their statements issued in Islamabad said that the Kashmiris have been rendering unparalleled sacrifices for their right to self-determination for the last over seventy-six years. They appealed to the UN to take steps for the settlement of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with its resolutions.—KMS
