LONDON – New British Foreign Secretary  David Lammy on Monday called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy would soon visit Israel and Palestine, where he would hold a press conference calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and the release of hostages.

A statement from the British Foreign Office said that David Lammy would also discuss concrete steps for a two-state solution with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The British Foreign Secretary said that the deaths and destruction in Gaza are unacceptable, this war must end at all costs, and an emergency ceasefire must be implemented.

According to the British Foreign Office, David Lammy will also discuss with the Israeli Prime Minister the issue of 680 tons of British aid not being allowed into Gaza.

It may be mentioned here that the Labour Party achieved a major victory in the UK general elections, following which Sir Keir Starmer was elected as the new Prime Minister of the UK.
