The Ministry of Defense said that all troops have been provided with uniforms and that those who neglect wearing them will be punished. Enayatullah Khwarizmi, a spokesman for the Defense Ministry, said that the uniforms are from the previous government, but its color may change soon. “The leadership of the Defense Ministry has ordered that the (uniform) should be used in military centers and we—all personnel of the defense ministry — should follow the order of the ministry of defense,” he said. “The materials and clothes from the previous government remain with us. We are now using them based on the decree of the Defense Ministry,” Khwarizmi said. Meanwhile, military analysts said that the uniform is a serious need for the troops.

“Uniforms and military clothes are the obvious symbols of the military and are the reality of the society. Without military uniforms, it cannot be clear whether they are military or not,” said Asadullah Nadim, a military analyst. This comes as residents of Kabul meanwhile called on the Islamic Emirate to take serious actions to implement the wearing of uniform among the defense and security forces. “Uniforms are an important issue. If the Islamic Emirate’s forces have uniforms, the criminal rate will be reduced in the country,” said Javid, a resident of Kabul.

This comes as citizens have repeatedly voiced concerns about the lack of wearing uniforms by the Islamic Emirate’s forces. —Agency
