A conference was organized by All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter in Islamabad, today, to pay tributes to veteran Hurriyat leader, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai on his first martyrdom anniversary. APHC-AJK Convener Muhammad Farooq Rehmani chaired the conference.
Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai died in Indian custody in Jammu on May 5, last year. The speakers on the occasion threw light on the life and struggle of the great martyred leader and condemned the Indian rulers for being arrested in critical condition. They said before that one of his sons was martyred by Indian troops.
APHC-AJK Convener Mohammad Farooq Rahmani in his presidential address said that during the detention of Sehrai Sahib, his treatment was criminally neglected and was deprived of medical treatment in Jammu jail but the passionate leader remained a statue of determination and perseverance.
The conference called upon the United Nations and other international bodies to prevent India from committing atrocities and human rights abuses in the occupied territory, take immediate steps to save the lives of detained Hurriyat leaders, release all political detainees, withdraw the Indian forces and resolve the Kashmir dispute in the light of relevant UN resolutions.
The conference also pledged to continue the freedom struggle till taking it to its logical conclusion.—INP
