Police on Tuesday arrested three men for their alleged involvement in demanding Rs20 million as extortion from a trader in District Central.
The suspects were arrested by the Azizabad police in a raid. The suspects had allegedly demanded extortion money from Omar Ziauddin, the owner of a dyeing factory, said the District Central police spokesman. He said that before demanding money, the suspects had fired on the trader’s car on December 27.
adding that a day later they phoned the trader and mentioned the firing, warning of dire consequences for him and his father if he failed to pay Rs20 million.
