Thousands of families in Thar have been living under the poverty line and the government, as well as, philanthropic organizations should come for their rescue, said managing director of Pakistan Relief Foundation Ayesha Haleem on Tuesday.
According to details, the daughter of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Sindh leader and parliamentary party leader in Sindh Assembly Ayesha Haleem and his brother Ahsan Adil Sheikh set up a relief camp at Kairlo Village of Thar and Umerkot Hari Camp and distributed ration and warm clothes amongst the poor.
Talking to media, Ayesha Haleem said thousands of families in far-flung areas of Thar are compelled to live under the poverty line. She said the government and philanthropists should assist these downtrodden people.
She said diseases are spreading in region due to poverty and hunger. She said this situation worsen during the winter. She said they have met several families and distributed relief goods amongst them under the platform of Pakistan Relief Foundation.
She appealed to the local and international NGOs, and well-to-do people, as well as, government to provide relief to these poor people of Tharparkar on urgent basis.
Ahsan Adil Sheikh said on the occasion that diseases amongst Thari children are increasing in the winter season.
He said we are here to render some assistance to local people under self-help basis on the platform of Pakistan Relief Foundation.—INP
