Tapping mineral resources to boost economy : Governor

Governor Sindh Imran Ismail has said that many minerals are found in Pakistan and it was the need of the hour to unearth and utilize them for strengthening our economy. He was presiding over a meeting of Sindh Industrial Liaison Committee (SILC) at Governor House here today. Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Mineral Resources Mr. Shehzad Qasim, representatives of Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Pakistan, Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and presidents of all Industrial areas of Karachi attended the meeting. Prominent Industrialists Mr. Zahid Saeed and Mr. Zubair Baweja were also present on the occasion. Matters relating to effective use of mineral resources and steps needed in this regard, problems of industrial areas including electricity, gas, water and sewerage were discussed in details during the meeting. The Governor Sindh said that industrial development in various sectors was in top priorities of Prime Minister Imran Khan. The Federal Government under the directives of Prime Minister was taking every possible step in this regard, he added. He further said that Prime Minister is holding regular meetings with the stake holders of every Industrial sector to personally know their problems and possible solutions. Due to the farsightedness of Prime Minister Imran Khan the economy of Pakistan was not affected as much as our neighboring countries during Covid-19 pandemic and it has been recognized by international institutions as well, he observed. Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Mineral Resources Shahzad Qasim said that there was huge potential of investment in mining sector and as such investors willing to invest in mineral resources would be provided every possible help and assistance. Member of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry Mr. Sultan Rehman, President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Shariq Vohrah, President of Korangi Association of Trade & Industry Mr. Saleem Uz Zaman, President of North Karachi Association of Trade & Industry Mr. Faisal Moiz, President of SITE Association of Trade & Industry Mr. Abdul Hadi, Immediate Past President of Bin Qasim Association of Trade & Industry Mr. Naveed Shakoor, President of SITE Super Highway Association of Trade & Industry Eng. Nisar, Senior Vice President of Federal B. Area Association of Trade & Industry Syed Raza Hussain and President of Landhi Association of Trade & Industry Mr. Ajmal Afzal were present on the occasion.
