Uganda beat Papua New Guinea by three wickets in a Group C match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at Providence.
Chasing a below par 78-run target for victory, Uganda achieved the milestone in the penultimate over with three wickets in hand and 10 balls to spare. Riazat Ali Shah was the top scorer with 33 runs followed by Juma Miyagi who made 13. Alei Nao and Norman Vanua bagged two wickets each while Chad Soper and Assad Vala took one wicket apiece. Riazat Ali shah was named player of the match.
Earlier, Papua New Guinea kept losing wickets from the start and the entire team was back in the hut at 77 runs in 19.1 overs. Hiri Hiri was the highest scorer who made 15 runs. Lega Siaka and Kiplin Doriga made 12 runs each. No other batter could enter the double figures. Alpesh Ramjani, Sosmas Kyewuta, Juma Miyagi and Frank Nsubuga bagged two wickets each while Brian Musaba took one wicket.
