The University of Okara’s Department of Botany and Department of Environmental Sciences have jointly launched a drive themed as ‘Sustainability Initiatives’ with an aim to create awareness about the protection and conservation of natural resources.
Multiple events were organized as part of the campaign including Campus Walk for Cleanliness Initiatives and Awareness about Sustainability of Resources, Plantation in Botanical Garden and Poster Competition.
A seminar was also organized where the District Environment Officer, Younas Zahid, delivered a special lecture on ‘Smog, Global Warming and Food Insecurity”.
Talking about the campaign, Dr Faheem Arshad, Chairperson Department of Botany, told, “Following the vision of the UO administration, we have engaged various stakeholders including students, academia and district authorities to work for the conservation of environment and protection of endangered flora and fauna of the region.
