A legislative body of Upper House of parliament on Tuesday constituted a sub-committee to probe over massive use of force, torture and registration of FIR against the workers/leader of PTI’s Azadi March on May 25.
The sub-committee will consist of senators belonging to different political parties, who will work honestly, said Mohsin Aziz while chairing Senate Standing Committee on Interior, which held today in parliament house. The committee was informed that it was constitutional right of PTI to held peaceful rally and no one would be allow create hurdles in it, said Mohsin Aziz. He said that police entered PTI leader houses and harassed children and female.
During the meeting, Senator Ijaz Chudhry Senator Azam Swati, former Punjab health minister Yasmin Rashid and others from Punjab and Sindh apprise the committee over injustices with them. They were of the view that they were confronted with heavy tear gas shelling, beaton charge and alleged that now the government could not register FIR against police and others. Senator Faisal Javed told the committee that High Courts and Supreme Court allow to hold peaceful protest, they why hurdles were created to stop marcher towards Islamabad. He asked the court to take suo moto against the government action against the PTI rally. He also demanded to withdrawn the FIRs registered against party workers/leaders. Senator Fozia Arshad said that instead of provide security, the protestors were given beaton charge and heavy tear gas, which according to her regrettable.
Federal Minister for SAFRON Talha Mehmood said that injustices with protestors was not good but there are cases of beaton police personnel even killing, it should also be discussed. However, he said that all such matters were in courts and should not discuss it in detail.
Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar suggested to form a sub-committee, which look into the matter in detail. He said that such incidents were occurred during different parties tenures.
Yousaf Raza Gilani told the committee that SC also could not allow the rally at D Chock. He also said that CM Khyber Pakhtunkhawa statement that he was ready to attack on capital in next march, then what would happen.
