Steps finalised to avert flooding during imminent rains

An emergency meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to review the situation regarding possible rains in Karachi. The Chief Minister convened a meeting at the Chief Minister’s House immediately after returning from a visit to MirpurKhas and Hyderabad. The meeting was attended by Provincial Ministers Syed NasirShah, SaeedGhani, Provincial Advisor MurtazaWahab, Mayor Karachi WaseemAkhtar, Commissioner Karachi, Municipal Commissioner KMC, all Divisional Municipal Commissioners, all Deputy Commissioners, representatives of K-Electric and all other concerned persons. The Sindh Chief Minister directed the administration to ensure all measures in view of possible heavy rains.Cleaning of all drains in the city should continue on an emergency basis, the CM directed. He said that all concerned agencies must be alert during rains in Karachi city and all arrangements should be made for drainage of rain water during rains in the city. “Pumping machines and generators should be provided for quick drainage of rainwater collected in low-lying areas.”
