Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that Sport is such a marvelous activity that promotes tolerance, and brings people together, otherwise intolerance is eating into the vitals of our society.
This he said while speaking at the concluding ceremony of Syed Nauman Ahsan DG Sindh Higher Education Commission Cricket match organized at NED University ground. Vice Chancellor NED University Prof Sarosh Lodhi, Chairman Higher Education Commission Tariq Rafi, and others were present on the occasion.
The CM Shah said that civilized societies have abandoned their instincts of intolerance and they do not like such attitudes. They convince each other through logic and dialogue but unfortunately, our youth have given up the habit of studying books, sports, and healthy activities including debate competitions and participating in study circles, the CM said and added he was happy to watch the youngsters participating in the sports activities here in the cricket match organized by higher education.
The CM urged the youth of the country to make use of social media as a tool for education, capacity building, employment, and connectivity with the rest of the world. “Sorry to say, our youth are not taking benefit of social media,” he deplored.
Murad Ali Shah urged all educational institutions to hire sports and parade coaches to train the students and these activities must be carried out along with academic activities. “I would also urge the parents to encourage and help their children to actively participate in sports, debates, and such other activities,” he said.
The CM said that our religion has taught us tolerance, mutual respect and interfaith harmony. “The extremism being infused in the society is bound to make us isolate in the entire world and even in ourselves,” he concluded.
Speaking on the occasion Chairman Higher Education Prof Tariq Rafi thanked the chief minister for presiding over the event. He added that he would be promoting sports in all the universities.
