In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement, Khawaja Firdous has condemned the slapping of draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) on party’s General Secretary, Pir Hilal Ahmed and shifting him to infamous Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Khawaja Federal in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the authorities had arrested Pir Hilal Ahmed without any justification as they were using all tactics to suppress the Kashmiris’ indigenous freedom movement.

He deplored that Pir Hilal Ahmed was tortured after the arrest and had been shifted to Kot Bhalwal jail, Jammu which was deplorable.

He added that the health of Pir Hilal Ahmed was not good and he was not allowed to meet with his family members, which was the worst kind of human rights violation.

The Hurriyat leader said that Kashmiri people were not afraid of such tactics of India and they would continue their peaceful struggle for their right to self-determination till taking it to its logical conclusion.

Khawaja Firdous said that India should know that for the past seven decades, it could neither suppress the Kashmiris nor won their hearts.

He said that the Kashmiri people never recognized India, which was also proved during the Pak-India cricket match last week.

Khawaja Firdous appealed to the world community and human rights organizations to help stop illegal arrests and release all the illegally detained Kashmiri political leaders.

He said that settlement of the Kashmir dispute, according to the UN resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people, was imperative for sustainable peace in South Asia.—INP
