Provincial Energy Minister Syed Nasir Shah has announced that the distribution of free solar panels across the province will begin this month. The initiative, aimed at providing affordable energy solutions, is part of a broader effort to address rising electricity costs and improve energy access. In a meeting chaired by Nasir Shah, key officials from the Energy Department, along with representatives from NGOs, discussed the solar panel supply project, which is supported by the World Bank. The meeting included Secretary Energy Mossadegh Ahmed Khan, CEO of the Sindh Solar Panel Foundation Khalid Sheikh, and Director of the Sindh Solar Energy Project Mahfouz Qazi. Nasir Shah emphasized the urgency of the project, directing that the process of supplying solar panels be accelerated within August.
He stressed the importance of transparency and effective distribution, ensuring that solar panels reach every division and district in Sindh. “The goal is to provide relief through alternative energy sources, as the cost of conventional electricity has become unaffordable for many,” Shah said. He added that the Sindh government is committed to reducing electricity costs and expanding access to cheaper energy options through this solar initiative.
