Sindh to host int’l leather expo

An international exhibition focused on promoting the leather industry will be held at the Expo Center Karachi later this year, announced Provincial Minister for Industries and Commerce Jam IkramullahDharejo during a meeting at the Sindh Secretariat. The meeting included representatives from the Pakistan Tanners (Leather) Association and key officials such as Secretary Industries and Commerce Muhammad YasinSharBaloch, and association members Muhammad Shafi, Aziz Ahmed, and Ejaz Ahmed.

Minister Dharejo highlighted that the Sindh government has allocated 277.396 million rupees to improve infrastructure in the Korangi Leather Industrial Area. An additional 500 million rupees is expected to be approved soon for further infrastructure enhancements. He noted that 8.5 kilometers of roads have already been constructed with the help of a Sindh government grant and assured that encroachments in the Korangi Industrial Area will be removed. Emphasizing the importance of the leather industry, Dharejo stated, “The leather industry will be promoted in Pakistan, especially in Sindh.

At the end of this year, an international leather expo will be held at the Karachi Expo Center.” He also assured the business community that their concerns related to the leather industry would be addressed promptly. Additionally, the Water Board will be consulted regarding the tax on the use of groundwater, and this issue will be discussed in an upcoming coordination committee meeting.
