Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) GhulamNabiMemon convened a high-level meeting to review and reinforce security arrangements. The meeting, held at the Central Police Office in Karachi, was attended by senior police officials from various departments, including Counter-Terrorism, Special Branch, and Foreigners’ Security Cell. Moreover, DIGs from Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, MirpurKhas, and ShaheedBenazirabad Range participated in the session via video link.
During the meeting, it was decided to establish a dedicated department for Chinese security within the Special Branch. IG Memon instructed to modernize security protocols in coordination with Chinese security authorities. Additionally, the Sindh government’s revenue-generating measures related to non-residents will be actively implemented.
The officials were advised to provide guidance on security measures, while all officers were directed to reassess security measures for non-nationals. A comprehensive security assessment report is expected within three days, as per IG Memon’s directives. The discussion also covered details regarding the recent suicide attack on foreign nationals in Karachi’s Landhi area, emphasizing the need for swift and decisive action to ensure the safety of all foreign visitors.
IG Memon expressed gratitude that all non-nationals remained unharmed during the attack, reassuring that the police and security agencies remain vigilant and prepared to respond to any potential threats. He stressed the importance of continued cooperation and coordination between law enforcement and security agencies to maintain peace and security across the province.
