Sindh Action Committee leaders get interim bail

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has granted bail for 20 days to leaders of the Sindh Action Committee accused of being involved in vandalism and arson during a recent protest against Bahria Town Karachi. The bail was granted against surety of Rs25,000 each.

SAC leaders, including Jalal Mehmood Shah, Dr Qadir Magsi, Aslam Khairpuri, advocate Sajjad Chandio and Jan Mohammad Junejo appeared before the ATC no2 Clifton branch after their protective bail, granted by Sindh High Court, expired.The interim bail plea was heard by ATC no2 judge.

A panel of lawyers’ headed by Sayed Ghullam Shah, Muhammad Khan Shaikh, Aqib Rajper, and Yousif Laghari were also present in the courtroom.

The court approved the interim bail pleas of all accused until 26 June for a sum of Rs25, 000 each.

The lawyers stated that as many as 30 FIRs were lodged against the applicants under various sections of Pakistan Penal Code and Section-7 of Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) at Gadap Police Station in Malir district after the protest against BTK on June 6 turned violent.
