DUBAI – Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt praised Pakistan’s legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram during the BFIC Gold Launch Event in Dubai, and called him “ Sultan [King] of Swing”.

During an event where both Sanjay and Wasim were invited as guests, Sanjay lauded Wasim Akram, stating, “He is one of the greatest cricketers I have witnessed in my entire life.”

Sanjay also revealed that he had known Wasim as a brother for many years. “Wasim’s reverse swing was formidable; everyone feared his reverse swing,” he said.

The former captain is widely regarded as one of the best bowlers in history, renowned for his accurate line and length combined with reverse swing bowling skills, posing a challenging opponent for batsmen throughout his career.

Wasim Akram played a crucial role in Pakistan’s victory in the 1992 World Cup, earning him a prominent place in the title-winning squad. With two hat-tricks in Test and One Day Internationals, Wasim set numerous records during his career, including being the first bowler to take 500 wickets in One Day Internationals, achieved during the 2003 World Cup match against the Netherlands.

He holds the record for the most wickets taken by a Pakistani bowler in international cricket, with 916 wickets. His remarkable average of 23.57 and economy rate of 3.17 in 460 matches reflect his exceptional bowling prowess.

Currently, Wasim Akram is predominantly seen as a commentator, and he is currently participating as a commentator in the UAE for the International League T20 (ILT20).
