Saifuddin calls for KW&SC, SSWM to fall under town and UC jurisdiction

Opposition Leader of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and Deputy Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Saifuddin Advocate, has demanded that the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) and the Sindh Solid Waste Management (SSWM) be placed under the jurisdiction of towns and union councils (UCs).

He stated that both these entities are directly under the mayor, and as such, MurtazaWahab, who oversees these departments, is fundamentally responsible for the city’s issues. Advocate Saifuddin criticized the lack of formation of committees over the past year, describing it as an authoritarian approach. He pointed out that this failure has contributed to the problems faced by KMC.

He made these remarks during a meeting with Jamaat-e-Islami’s elected representatives from various districts at the opposition office in KMC. The meeting was attended by Deputy Parliamentary Leader Junaid Makati, Focal Person NomanIlyas, UC Chairmen AfaqBaig, WasimMirza, AtifBukhari, Hashir Umar, Khwaja Muhammad, Abdul Hafeez, Dr. Rehan, KashifuddinShamsi, and Omer Akram, as well as City Council members Fazal Ahmed, YounusSoohani Advocate.
