Today is 39th death anniversary of Nazeer Abbasi Shaheed. He was the youngest member of the Communist Party’s Central Committee and organised a fierce resistance against Gen Zia’s military rule. He was arrested in 1980 and died due to torture. His body was never returned to his family.
It is our national tragedy that people like Nazeer Shaheed who were selflessly dedicated for the betterment of society have been removed, while many others who died in confinement are no longer known by young people.
