LAHORE – Rehana Dar, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-supported independent candidate, filed a writ petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) challenging the election results of NA-71.

Rehana refused to accept the success of PML-N candidate Khawaja Asif, and she mentioned him, the returning officer, Election Commission and others as respondents in her plea.

She rgued that Khwaja Asif lost according to Form 45, where he himself declared victory in Form 47.

The returning officer declared Khwaja Asif the winner explicitly. The results of Form 45 are available.

The petitioner asked the court to order the release of results according to Form 45, stop the Election Commission from releasing the final results, order a recount and declare Form 47 null and void.

In the NA-71 Sialkot constituency of the National Assembly, Khwaja Asif defeated Rehana Dar, according to unofficial and non-governmental results.

In NA-71, Khwaja Asif secured 118,000 votes while Rehana Imtiaz Dar, the supported candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, received 102,000 votes.

There were 358 polling stations in NA-71, with a total of 577,281 registered voters in the electoral constituency, including 305,133 male voters and 272,148 female voters.

251,371 voters exercised their right to vote in NA-71. The voter turnout was 43.54%.

It’s worth noting that after general elections across the country, the process of announcing electoral results is ongoing, and many prominent politicians have faced defeat in this election.
