Rawalpindi announces two-day local holiday ahead of Pakistan Day

RAWALPINDI – Two holidays have been announced in Rawalpindi on March 21 and 22 on account of the Pakistan Day parade.

The district administration of garrison city made the announcement for holidays in Rawalpindi city and cantonment areas on account of Pakistan Day Parade.

In a notification, Deputy Comissioner Rawalpindi said two holidays had been announced on the basis of the request made by the district intelligence committee. All public and private educational institutions as well as offices will remain closed during this days.

DC however clarified that notification will not affect the ninth class examination of BISE Rawalpindi.

Pakistani army and forces of friendly nations are set to hold joint military parade on Pakistan Day, the annual event held in capital, and this year several foreign armies including Chinese armed forces will also take part in the annual military parade.

Military contingents from other nations, including Riyadh, have previously joined parade. Preparations for the Pakistan Day parade started last month, with the Ministry of Defence requesting lists of invitees. The event is slated to be attended by high-ranking government and military officials, as well as foreign dignitaries.
