Hundreds of people on Monday reached the Martyrs’Graveyard of Islamabad and paid tributes to Mirwaiz of south Kashmir, Dr. Qazi Nisar Ahmed on the occasion of his martyrdom anniversary.
Dr Qazi Nisar was assassinated by unidentified gunmen in Dialgam Anantnag on June 19, 1994. The attendants from religious, political and civil society visited the graveyard and paid rich tributes to the slain Mirwaiz, who was also the founder of Muslim United Front, an amalgam of various religious and political schools of thought.
More than twenty five prominent religious or-ganizations attended the Quran Khawani gathering that was held early in the morning. Remembering his services, Maulana Attari praised Dr Qazi Nisar for his role in the unity of Muslim Ummah in the year 1985-1987. “His intellectual genius, speeches and literature is still widely read and in fact, with time his intellect has found more relevance. He continues to inspire thousands of Kashmiris scholars across political and ideological divides,” Irshad Attari said.
Meanwhile, a prayer meeting was organized by All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter in Islamabad, today, in memory of Dr Qazi Nisar Ahmed and Rashid Wani with Convener Mahmood Ahmad Saghar in chair.
Mahmood Ahmad Saghar addressing on the oc-casion said that the people of Kashmir would never forget the services of Dr Qazi Nisar Ahmad on the religious and political fronts.
Prayers were offered for Rashid Wani on his 6th death anniversary. He said people from all walks of life have sacrificed their precious lives for the Kashmir cause which will not be allowed to go waste.
On this occasion, a special prayer was also of-fered for the martyrs of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir who lost their lives in the boat capsizing tragedy in Greece.—KMS
