Qatar’s Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Counterterrorism and Mediation in Conflict Resolution, Mutlaq bin Majed al-Qahtani met on Wednesday with Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) for Afghanistan Roza Otunbayeva, who is visiting the country.
According to an official statement from Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, the two diplomats held an extensive discussion that covered the collaborative initiatives between Qatar and the United Nations.
Furthermore, they explored the ongoing dynamic developments within Afghanistan’s complex landscape.
“They discussed cooperation between Qatar and the UN and the latest developments in Afghanistan,” the statement said.
In recent years, Qatar has assumed a significant and multifaceted role in the Afghanistan issue.
Qatar’s involvement in the Afghanistan issue extends beyond its geographical location; it encompasses a series of diplomatic initiatives, peace talks, and engagement with various stakeholders. —PR
