Punjab govt providing food items on subsidy rates

The Punjab government is providing billion of rupees subsidy for ensuring provision of essential commodities to fasting people on cheaper prices than open market.

This was stated by the Provincial Secretary for Zakat and Usher, Punjab, Babar Iman Babar while talking to journalists during his has visit to Ramadan Bazaar Hafizabad, on Friday.

Deputy Commissioner Hafizabad Muhammad Asif Raza, ADCG Hamid Nasir Goraya, AC Murad Hussain and CO Municipal Committee Ikram Ullah Sandhu were also accompanied by the Secretary.

He inspected stalls of flour, sugar, fruit, vegetables and other essential commodities during the visit and expressed his satisfaction over quality and prices of daily used items as well as provision of different facilities to consumers in the Ramadan Bazaar.

While giving briefing to the Secretary, Deputy Commissioner Hafizabad Muhammad Asif Raza informed that four Ramadan Bazaars has been made functional at Hafizabad, Pindi Bhattian, Jalalpur Bhattian and Sukheki each.

He appraised that 10 kg bag of flour was being sold at Rs. 450 per bag in Ramadan Bazaars, sugar at Rs.80 per kg while chicken was available Rs. 12 per kg, eggs Rs. 6 per dozen cheaper than open market in the Ramadan Bazaars.

He also told that Market Committee and Agriculture Department had also setup fair price shops in Ramadan Bazaars to sell 13 essential commodities on subsidiary prices.

Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Asif Raza arranged Revenue Open Court at district complex and listened grievances of people, on Friday.
