Punjab govt announces relief in challan for driving licenses over long queues; details inside

City Traffic Police have intensified crackdown against underage drivers and thousands of people in Lahore and other cities are visiting license centres to avoid penalties.

As the stern move invited thousands of people to wait in queues, the authorities in Punjab announced temporary relief for citizens facing stretched queues and the cumbersome process of getting driving license.

As people’s failed to get driving license in short period of time, the government said no challan would be issued for 3 days but the facility can availed by those who hold valid license token.

Punjab interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced during his visit to the Police Facilitation Center in Lahore where a huge number of commuters visited and lamented grievances to the CM.

People apprised Mr Naqvi about issues in the process of getting license, and said they had to wait for hours due to the slow networking system and long queues.

CM then ordered the DG Punjab IT Board to expedite the process and enhance the efficiency of system. Naqvi further said no challans will be issued to license token holders for 3 days.

The interim government earlier announced an increase in learner’s driving license fees from Rs60 to Rs1,000, starting from January 1, 2024.
